Patio Design

You have just poured the concrete for your new patio and you want more than just an ordinary patio. The problem is that you don’t quite know what to do with your patio design and your budget won’t allow for some of the custom jobs that are offered. Well here is a suggestion for you, try a sun inlay. It is pleasing to the eye and will enhance your patio with its beauty.

Buy a few feet of lead flashing, which is inexpensive and very easy to work with. Trace out the shape that you would like in your concrete, take your lead flashing and start cutting your design by using shears or tin snips. Make a clear cutting as to how you want your design to be and the shape that your looking for. It would be a good idea to first make a stencil out of cardboard to ensure that the pattern is the one you want. First prime and then paint the flashing you have cut with what colors you desire in your concrete.

After smoothing the concrete with a float, inlay your designs into your concrete where you want them to be placed. You have to press firmly to insure a good adhesion to the concrete and lead. After your concrete has fully dried, which takes approximately three weeks, you can go back and put a clear coating over all of it. This produces a beautiful inlay when done properly and you will not be disappointed and for anyone on a budget it is the perfect solution for an added feature with little cost or effort.

So now that your inlay is finished and your design does look like custom made, you can add all your patio furniture and sit down and relax. Invite the neighbors to a barbecue and listen while they ask you what contacting company did the inlay work for you. Now you can explain how it is done and you may even find yourself with requests to do other patios.
