DecksA deck is the one improvement that will add value to your home. It will become the center of your enjoyment whether with family or friends. You’ll find as many uses for your deck as you will with the many designs that are available. Make sure your deck plan is the one you want. It is the most important part of your deck and there are many things to consider. The size of your property will determine how big your deck will be. Even with the smaller lots you will find you won’t be restricted to just one plan because there are many options. Climate is another factor to be considered like a north side deck will be in the coolest location and south or west may have too much sun, unless you enclose your deck or build it near a large tree. Make sure you take note of the view from where your deck will be so you won’t be stuck with something you really don’t want to be looking at. Legal considerations are always there when doing improvements. Make sure you check out the ones in your city or town. This could limit the size of your deck with distance from your deck to the edge of your lot lines. Subdivision covenants could be another that could restrict the look of your deck. You will probably have to purchase a building permit from your city. Don’t forget to contact your local utilities to make sure that if you need to, you can dig freely without the danger of hitting any lines that may be buried under your property. You can build whatever size of deck you want, but a small house with a big deck looks out of place and a large house with a small deck looks the same. If the deck you have in mind is too big for your house, consider building your deck in levels so it will be well proportioned. Whatever you decide, on remember you are building something for enjoyment and pleasure, where you can take a load off and relax, and listen to the compliments roll in at the terrific job your going to do.
