Concrete Decks

Did you know that concrete decks add to the value of homes that have them? In addition to that important fact, when you are deciding to build on a new deck. There are other benefits to choosing concrete as the material of choice. These include being maintenance free. You don’t have to scrape and paint your deck every year because the sun has faded out the stain or the weather has washed it off. Once you put the deck on the house, it will last a lifetime and you won’t have to replace it in a few years. You will never have any broken boards to replace in the floor or worry that if you have a large number of guests on the patio at one time, that the floor may break or sag.

You won’t have to worry about any possibility of toxic chemicals such as with pressure treated lumber because with concrete there is none of that. The concrete itself can be customized to compliment your home and garden with designs put into it when it is still wet. There is very little difference in the building costs associated with using concrete as opposed to wood. The main source of your savings will be realized in the years to come.

While concrete has low maintenance, it is not maintenance free. You will have to resurface it eventually and paint or stain it after several years. You can cover it with a variety of materials such as granite tiles or brick to make it look really decorative. Interlocking modular deck tiles are a really good choice because they do not require any adhesives, nails, screws or tape to keep them in place. You just have to lay them over the concrete without any special skills required. If the concrete is uneven or has cracks, you don’t have to worry about it because the tiles will cover these perfectly.
